FAQs
Will I need a professional recording setup?
No - none of the remote sessions require anything more than a device with a built-in mic and camera, that can connect to a Zoom meeting.
Can I use the microphone I've bought?
Yes - if you have any recording kit, you're encouraged to use it. We can fine-tune your setup, and get it working to make you sound at your very best.
Can I join the call from anywhere?
You'll get the most out of the session if you're in a quiet, comfortable spot, where you're able to make noise as needed. Busy trains are not ideal.
Who else will be on the course?
If you're paying for 1-on-1 attention, your sessions are private - this can help you to make bolder choices and faster progress. The LAMDA and RADA courses are taught in small groups.
Can I make a voicereel?
Certainly - if you have a good setup, we can record from that, or if not, we can book a convenient studio, and Matt will travel to direct you if desired.
What preparation is needed in advance?
There's nothing essential to do before most sessions, but a quick vocal warmup can help get your voice in the right place to work. Ask if you'd like to build a personal routine. On the Audiobooks course you'll be asked to supply two short texts in advance of each session, and given plenty of help finding them. A further two texts will be selected for you each session, to fit your casting and extend your experience.
Can I pay for a course in installments?
If you prefer to pay-as-you-go the sessions are charged at £100 per hour, with the final session fully discounted to reflect the total cost of the course.
When are sessions available?
Sessions are scheduled to suit you, and when you book we'll find a convenient regular time, or book your next session in week-by-week as you prefer.
What if I need to reschedule a session?
If a session is rescheduled 24 hours before it's due to start, there's no charge. After that, 50% of the cost is charged as a cancellation fee.
